Fried Cornbread

2 cups corn meal
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsps baking powder
Enough milk to make a medium batter (about 2 1/2 cups)

Fry in skillet till brown on both sides.

  1. Whipped this up tonight and it was great! I did have to add almost a cup more milk than indicated. I would still start out with what is listed and then just keep adding milk until you have it at the right consistency.
    I remember when I was a kid, grandma had these on the table a lot. They were great for the grabbing when running through the house on my way outside to dig holes in the yard with her favorite spoon!
    Will definitely make again. Oh, and you can use non-dairy milk like rice milk just fine if you want to.
